A slew of activities are planned for this year’s annual Tom Thomson Days in Owen Sound.
The iconic Canadian painter spent the first 20 years of his life in and around the Owen Sound area.
Events kick off this weekend and go to August 5th — Thomson’s birthday.
Events and Volunteer Co ordinator with the Tom Thomson Art Gallery, Kris Rosar says their newest exhibition highlights the artists time spent in Algonquin Park where he often paddled around and painted quick oil sketches done right from his canoe.
And the Leith Church, where Thomson is buried, will also host a series of events
including their annual Ceilidh and Highland concert on Saturday night.
Rosar says there has always been a lot of mystery surrounding Tom Thomson and how he died — and where he’s actually buried — but she says this event is simply a celebration of his talents.
