It’s time to celebrate Owen Sound’s Heritage.
The City is holding its annual Heritage Day today from 10 AM to 4 PM.
There are a number of events planned at both the Marine and Rail Museum and Billy Bishop Home and Museum.
Owen Sound Museum Manager Mary Smith says they have activities for everyone in the family — from adults to young preschoolers.
At the Marine and Rail Museum — there will be live entertainment starting at 10 AM — including bands and pipers.
You will also be able to see over a dozen tugboats in the harbour and there will be a tugboat parade at 11 AM.
The CN Mascot “OBIE” will be there to offer train rides to adults and children.
Thomas the Tank engine will also take toddlers for a ride.
At the Billy Bishop Home and Museum — members of the Land Forces Central Area Training Centre from Meaford will be on hand.
They will show off their weapons, machines and exhibits.
There will also be model warplanes and re-enactors dressed in World War One and Two costumes as well as a magic show.
Smith says they will also offer Heritage Bus Tours with interpreters.
Tickets are 5 dollars each or 15 dollars for a family of four — children under 2 get in free.
1st Avenue West will be closed between 11th and 12th Streets for Heritage Day.
