Some homeowners in Collingwood’s east end aren’t happy the ethanol plant nearby is beginning it’s re-start today, much earlier than had been expected.
Mike Pynkoski lives in the Blue Shores development, and says he feels betrayed by the plant because he says plant officials haven’t worked with the community on the re-start plan.
The plant shut down in late June to re-tool in an effort to cut down on the noise and smells it produces.
Pynkoski says he can’t believe that the plant spent millions of dollars upgrading its equpiment but neighbours weren’t aware of what their actual schedule was.
He says they don’t want the plant to leave, or for workers there to lose their jobs, but if if can’t be done, Pynkoski says the plant shouldn’t be here.
Pynkoski says more taxes are being paid by people who live in the east end of Collingwood than the plant.
