Some encouraging local economic news in the form of the latest figures from Realtors Association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound.
Association President Neil Devlin says the gap between resale activity this year and last year continues to shrink .
He says last month sales were down just 2.3 per cent compared to June of last year and the total value of home sales in June was at 44.9 million — edging up point 6 per cent from one year ago.
Another positive is the average price of home sales in June rose 2.9 per cent from a year ago to just over 206 thousand dollars.
Devlin says that is the highest level on record for the month of June.
The value of all homes sold this June was in excess of 56.6 million dollars compared to 56.1 million last June.
He says people now have regained some confidence in the economy and coupled with record low interest rates are now entering the housing market once again.
Devlin calls the market balanced with a good selection of starter homes on the market along with more expensive upgrade homes as well.
