Steelback Brewery is going through some down-sizing changes.
President and CEO Jon Sherman confirms to Bayshore Broadcasting News that former president Ian MacDonald has left the company.
In addition the workforce of 15 has been reduced to four and Sherman hopes it’s only a temporary move.
The company has also cut ties with its public relations agency.
Sherman says Steelback is not completely shut down and continues to service the customers it has now.
He says he hopes the Tiverton brewery will not shut down entirely but can’t speculate on what will happen.
Sherman says he wants to keep his options open and will have more to say on the issue in a couple of weeks.
Sherman says there is a facility still in operation and a brand of beer to sell but he hinted that maybe he needs to find a new home for both.
He says Steelback is still smarting from the Tiverton Old Boys and Girls reunion fiasco.
Sherman says Kincardine town council failed them.
He says it boiled down to a vote for small business and council chose to go in another direction and it added to the downsizing decision.
Sherman says it’s unfortunate that it’s come to this but they will continue to operate in Tiverton for the time being.
He says the immediate future will be dedicated to regrouping and then figuring out the future of the company.
Sherman hopes to have a better handle on that in the next few weeks.
