The choice won’t be made for another five months, but two candidates have already announced they want to be Bruce County’s Warden in 2010.
Saugeen Shores Mayor Mike Smith and Kincardine Mayor Larry Kraemer both want to be the county’s top legislator.
Smith says he and Kraemer declared their intentions at a recent special summer session of county council, hosted by current Warden Bill Goetz in South Bruce.
He says it’s a long-standing tradition for Bruce County councillors to state their plans at that time.
Smith says he and Kraemer asked their fellow council members for support and it will be interesting what happens when they hold their vote this fall.
Smith says being warden would be a huge time commitment, adding that past wardens have attended over 300 meetings and events during their one-year term.
