An antique firearm has been stolen from Grey Roots Museum and Archives.
Grey County OPP say the theft happened sometime overnight between Sunday and Monday.
The firearm was being displayed in one of the pioneer period outbuildings at the museum on Grey Road 18 west of Rockford.
It’s described as a P & E. V. BLAKE long gun and is about 146 centimetres in length.
The exact age of the firearm is not known, but ‘Newhaven 1830’ is stamped on it and that may indicate the date of manufacture.
It was originally donated by an Empire Loyalist family who settled in the area.
Police say the uniqueness of this firearm would indicate it was stolen by someone with a collection or for sale to a collector.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Grey County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
