An investigation into a large fish kill in a Durham stream has failed to find a cause.
Saugeen Conservation Authority spokesperson Gary Senior says there was no obvious cause like heavy silt in the water from a big downpour of rain, or some pollution in the water.
Senior says the ministry of Environment is now looking into the incident and one in a pond near Hanover a few days earlier where fish also died.
He says there is no real connection between the two incidents and investigators are somewhat baffled.
The Saugeen Conservation officer couldn’t put a number on the fish kill in Durham because people had been pulling fish from the stream thru most of the day that it occurred on.
