As the first annual Owen Sound Cycling Festival comes to an end — Police have a new tool to recover stolen bikes.
Bike owners can now register their two-wheelers online at the city police website.
Inspector Steve MacKinnon says its easier and environmentally friendly as well.
He says they use the registration as a way to connect a stolen bike with its owner.
Surprisingly he says there are hundreds of bikes unclaimed, stolen bikes left at the police station every year which then get auctioned off.
MacKinnon says they’ll also be doing their bike auction differently this year.
He says it will also be online..and similar to what happens on e-bay.
