The winter patrol is coming back to subscribing members of the Port Elgin and Saugeen Township Beachers Association.
Group president John Kyles says the program will be explained to all members at their annual meeting on Saturday.
The meeting will get underway at 9 AM at the Plex in Port Elgin.
Kyles says besides discussion on the patrol program, Mayor Mike Smith, Police Chief Dan Rivett and Community Services Director Mike Myatt will make presentations as well.
Kyles says the winter patrol is carried out from November to March for those people who don’t winter in this area within the association.
He says an appointed person will be responsible for checking homes and cottages for theft and vandalism, along with any damage that may have been caused by heavy snow and falling limbs from trees.
Kyles says the appropriate authorities would be informed, along with the home owner.
He says the program was dropped for a while because of high insurance costs but a good insurance deal has been found again.
The cost to members who subscribe, including membership will be 75 dollars.
The Beachers Association has about 250 property owners and Kyles says they’re always looking for new members.
Members and non-members are welcome at Saturday’s meeting.
