Kincardine seniors will have free use of meeting rooms at the Davidson Centre addition.
This comes after Council debated last week on whether to charge fees to seniors.
Council debated back and forth last night as to whether to accept staff recommendation on setting fees for the new addition.
While all were in agreement to set general fees at 32 dollars they were split on whether to consider charging seniors 2 dollars each to a maximum of 32 dollars.
A group of seniors from the Kincardine Area Bid Euchre/Shooter Card Club came to last nights meeting worried that they may have to pay to rent out a room that seniors already get for free.
Vice President of the card club George Whalen says there are community centres in other municipalities that rent out meeting rooms for free.
He says there are some members that would opt out if they were forced to pay rent for the room.
He says if that were the case then they may have to go elsewhere to play their card games.
But in the end Council agreed to allow seniors to use the rooms in the addition free of charge.
Mayor Larry Kraemer originally suggested offering seniors a 50 percent discount on room rentals but voted in favour of free usage to avoid a deadlock.
He says it was their group that helped raise funds for the addition and Council took that into consideration.
Whalen says seniors are also paying taxes that are being used for the addition.
He says it would have been different if they were asking to use the pool or ice rink but they only want to use the meeting rooms to play cards.
