It will be a celebration of local food at the Wiarton Farmers Market today as officials will hold a local food dinner featuring locally grown and produced food products.
Farmers Market Spokesperson Kelsey Carriere says they will have everything from fresh strawberries to local bison to smoked ham to locally produced baked goods.
She says the dinner will go from 5 PM until 8 PM in the farmers markets new location in Wiarton’s Bluewater Park.
Carriere says moving to this new location has allowed them to add a few additional vendors and because it is near the liquor store and food store, many tourists heading to their cottages are visiting he market to purchase fresh food.
Some of the new vendors include April Dubois Pottery, Kind Hands hand-dyed clothing, Womb to World Whimsical Wearables, and Wicked Good fudge and beeswax candles.
She says the local community also is providing all sorts of support for the market and the local food vendors.
The Wiarton Farmers market is operates from 1 PM until 7 PM.
Carriere says tickets for the local food supper can be purchased at the office of the Wiarton Echo.
