It won’t be long before the shovel hits the ground at St. Peter and Paul’s School in Durham.
An expansion project has gone to tender and construction will begin this summer.
The project includes an expanded gymnasium, a stage area, two new classrooms, a library, music room, staff room, washrooms and enlarged office and entrance area.
But the Bruce Grey Catholic School Board doesn’t think the 1.5 million dollars in funding from the province will cover the entire project.
Superintendent of Business Cathy Colton says they plan use other funding to cover the rest of the project.
She notes they have a primary class size reduction allocation of 300 thousand dollars.
Colton is confident the project will create a better school environment.
The project is expected to wrap up in early 2010.
