High speed internet is coming to underserviced areas of Bruce County.
Broadband Project Co-ordinator Lisa Brocklebank says they’re gettting almost one-million-dollars for the project, through the Rural Connections Broadband Program.
Bruce County is one of 14 Ontario municipalities to receive money for the internet service improvement.
Brocklebank says the new service will benefit both private citizens and businesses.
She says they’ve identified four areas that need help including Walkerton to Chepstow and Cargill and up to Paisley.
She says northern portions of the county will also see some work, along Mallory Beach, the Lake Huron coast line and points north.
Brocklebank says because there are huge distances between the areas earmarked for improved service, those areas in between will also benefit from the increased infrastructure.
She says after all the “i’s” are dotted and “t’s” crossed, she hopes to see construction start late summer or early fall.
The service should be available by next Spring.
