Canada Day Celebrations are taking place across Bruce and Grey today.
In Saugeen Shores, Southampton is the point of celebration.
Chamber of Commerce Community Relations Coordinator Sally Hunt says the event gets underway at the beach around 6pm.
Hunt says they’ll have kite flying, games for the kids, and glow products available once again.
She says this year, they are combining Canada Day and Chantry Island Lighthouse 150th celebrations.
A parade will take place on High Street honouring the Lighthouse at 9pm, right before the fireworks take place.
Those take place at dusk, at Dominion Point (the Big Flag).
Hunt says this year’s budget for the fireworks is six thousand dollars, and they are expecting a great show .
She says it happens thanks to donations within the community year round, along with sponsorship from various service groups.
A rain date is scheduled for the following day.
