Collingwood council has been given a formal apology from the town’s ethanol plant.
One of the owners of the plant, now known as Amaizeingly Green, Bruce Chandler made a deputation at Monday’s evening’s council meeting.
In a news release, Chandler says the company took offense to the town laying charges for violating its sewer by-law in 2008.
He says plant officials didn’t realize the town was acting in the best interests of the community and the company overreacted and wrongly took an offsensive position.
Chandler adds the plant is sorry for any inappropriate actions it may have taken in the past and officials look forward to a new relationship with the town.
Council was also updated on the plant’s efforts to reduce noise and smells coming from the facility.
The plant says of the 28 projects under the plan, 16 have already been addressed and the other 12 will start soon.
The plant is shutting down for the summer to install new equipment.
