The photo contest is part of their “Getaway to Grey” campaign targeting not only residents of the area, but also tourists from Waterloo, the GTA and all over the world.
Bryan Plumstead, Tourism manager of Grey County Tourism says that despite the recession, tourism inquires for the area are up 30 per cent.
He is optimistic that people will want to travel closer to home, which will draw tourists from only a couple hours away.
Grey county Warden Kevin Eccles says that the attitude towards tourism in the area is changing because weekend residents are discovering the diversity of the area.
Eccles says word is spreading about what Grey has to offer… and more tourists from all over the globe are picking Grey County as their vacation spot.
Photos for the ‘Fun in Focus’ contest can include landscapes, but families are encouraged to include themselves in the photos and submit their best shot into one of the four seasonal categories before the deadline on January 31st, 2010.
