A public meeting on wind turbines is planned for Saturday at the Maxwell Community Hall.
It’s an information meeting between 10 AM and Noon, aimed at bringing area residents up to speed on the issue of Wind Turbines in Grey Highlands.
AIM-Gen is an energy company that is eye-balling the area and has set up test turbines.
If the area is found suitable and the company can get government approvals, it plans on a dozen wind turbines in the Lake Eugenia and Maxwell area.
Lorrie Gillis is a concerned resident, and member of “Preserve Grey Highlands”, who has helped organize the meeting for Saturday.
Along with a video on the issue, Gillis says there will be 2 presentations about the concerns generated by the turbines.
Gillis says adverse Health effects from noise and vibration tops the list of concerns from neighbours — but there are others, including the potential impact on property values.
The Grey Highlands residents says the province is looking at new regulations on the set-back for wind turbines from neighbouring properties, but those regulations are not set in stone.
Gillis says they are keeping the pressure up on local councillors to oppose any turbine plan, but AIM-Gen has not formally applied so the municipalities options are limited.
The information meeting is 10 AM to Noon tomorrow at the Maxwell Community Hall on County road 4, just west of Grey Road 2.
