Tenneco in Owen Sound is gearing back up as orders roll in from Chrysler and General Motors.
The shock absorber and strut manufacturer is recalling all 243 workers who were laid off in April.
At the time of the layoffs, those workers were told they would be off anywhere from 5 to 11 weeks.
Communications represenative Fara Young says the company began recalling workers about a week ago, and now recall notices have gone out to the remaining 123 workers to return to work on July 6th.
Young says customer demand has increased in the last few weeks and it appears to be stable now thru the summer and early fall.
The plant in Owen Sound is closed this coming week, but will open on July 6th with 358 staff on the job.
At its peak twoyears ago — Tenneco had more than 600 workers.
Young says the recall is good news for the company and the community.
