It is truly the last day in school for new graduates of Collingwood Collegiate Institute.
For the first time in its history, the school is hosting its commencement exercises in June rather than October.
Principal Mike Abram says the change in date came from students themselves, who said it was tough to make it back for graduation once they were in college or university.
Abrams says the 9 AM start is to allow parents and relatives to attend the ceremony before work, and have a morning in the school, perhaps followed by brunch.
He says the time could be changed if it turns out the morning commencement doesn’t work out well.
CCI students are asked to be a the school at 8 AM to get their caps and gowns, for the ceremony that starts at 9 AM.
Jean Vanier’s graduation ceremony was last night.
