In a matter of hours Saugeen Shores first Relay for Life cancer research fundraiser will be underway.
For everyone taking part in it, you are taking part in a special event that is recognized across the province.
Spokesperson Rona Cobean says 56 teams are set to descend on the track area behind Saugeen District Secondary School.
Cobean says it’s not too late to enter a team.
Just show up at the event before 7 PM.
Cobean says they’ve already received over 45 thousand dollars worth of on-line pledges.
Over 500 luminaries have been sold as well.
The kick-off survivor lap will have at least 84 survivors of cancer taking part led by 8 year old Alec Horning of Northport School who has been undergoing cancer treatment for lukemia.
Event spokesperson Nancy MacLeod says because this is the first time for the Saugeen Shores relay for life, projects were made that they thought were realistic.
She says they are over 200 per cent in what they thought they would do and considered number one in Ontario.
Tonight’s event at SDSS will feature around the clock entertainment and activities along with the spectacular luminary event around 10 PM.
The walk will end at 7 AM tomorrow morning.
