Wasaga Beach’s endangered Piping Plover families are getting a high-profile visitor tomorrow.
Ontario Natural Resources Minister Donna Cansfield will be at the site of the enclosure protecting two nests of the birds to announce funding to protect species at risk.
Cansfield will join volunteer “piping plover guardians” who have been helping Wasaga Beach Provincial Park staff to protect the plover nests.
The Plovers are considered an endangered species under Ontario’s Endangered Species Act.
This is the second year there have been nests of the birds at Beach Area One.
