The Ontario Progressive Conservatives need to be more compassionate about the people they are serving.
Leadership candidate Christine Elliott says the compassion of which she speaks goes hand in hand with the Conservative principled economic policies she would like to see in place if she becomes the next party leader.
Elliott says she would like to see more investment in people to become more entrepreneurial so that they may start their own businesses and create jobs, replacing the thousands we have lost in the recession.
She says it’s important the party give back to the people and to promote volunteerism in communities and wants it to be a main Conservative principle in the years ahead.
She also believes that the agriculture industry needs a break.
Elliott believes the red tape that plagues the farmer nowadays needs to be reduced.
She says right now it’s preventing people from developing the value-added parts of the agri-business in the industry.
Elliott says it’s part of the Conservative philosophy but as leader she will be prepared to follow through on some of these principles that seem to fall through the cracks once a government is in power.
Elliott is one of four candidates for the leadership.
The others are Randy Hillier, Tim Hudak and Frank Klees.
Conservative party members have one more chance to vote for the candidate of their choice.
Polls in Huron Bruce and Bruce Grey Owen Sound ridings are open from 3 PM to 9 PM.
Voting takes place at the Lucknow Arena in Lucknow and the legion in Owen Sound.
The winner will be announced on Saturday.
