Hanover is now going public with its reason why it is not willing to enter into joint water and sewer services with West Grey.
Mayor Kathi Maskell says West Greys joint water and sewer service proposal is not developer friendly.
She says it would never work, because developers do not want to deal with two municipalities at a time.
Maskell says developers want it as easy and less cumbersome as possible.
Maskell says a boundary extension will create a lot of economic development for the region.
She notes Hanover has lost two major developers because it lacked room to grow.
Both Home Depot and Trillium Insurance scrapped their plans to locate to Hanover in the last year because of the land issues.
Maskell wants West Grey to reconsider Hanover’s request for annexation.
West Grey Mayor Kevin Eccles says his municipality has not closed any doors on the issue and is willing to talk.
