There is a balanced budget for the Bluewater District School Board.
The budget sees the Board spend 190 million dollars for the 2009-2010 school year.
Trustees were able to maintain student programs and instructional leadership positions at elementary schools in this budget.
130 million dollars — or 71 percent of the 182 million dollar operating budget — will be directed towards the classroom.
1.4 million is allocated for school repairs and renovations.
The budget also includes provincial funding for two new schools and one addition to commence construction later this year.
The Board anticipates student enrolment will go down by 4.5 percent in elementary schools and 4.8 percent in secondary schools in the upcoming school year.
Trustees passed the budget yesterday after spending the last two months trying to chop 4 million dollars.
It will now go to the Ministry of Education next week for approval.
