Niagara West-Glanbrook MPP Tim Hudak is feeling really good about his chances to become the next leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservatives.
Hudak says he’s aware that most political pundits are saying he’s the leader and has been since the campaign began.
He says he apppreciates the support he has received and the renewed interest in the party as well.
Hudak believes the Harmonized Sales Tax issue, which could become law even before the next election, won’t see the light of day.
He says he sees hints of Dalton McGuinty already backing away from the what will be charged under the HST and he believes if there is enough anger and public uproar about it, McGuinty will do his “flip-flop” and back off the issue.
Hudak says he’s totally against it because of the financial hardship it will bring to a lot of people.
He says he comes from an agricultural riding like Huron Bruce and Bruce Grey Owen Sound and his party is ready to step up to the plate to help the industry from all aspects.
Hudak says he wants to bring in a property owner’s Bill of Rights to allow compensation for economic loss and an appeal system when government tries to restrict a farmer’s land use.
Hudak says Conservative party members are ready to return to principled concerned leadership that rewards hard work, support for family and safe and secure communities.
He believes it’s that type of attitude that will get the Conservatives elected in Ontario in 2011.
Tim Hudak is one of three leadership candidates.
The others are Christine Elliott, Randy Hillier and Frank Klees.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound Progressive Conservative members will be able to vote for their new leader this Thursday from 3 PM to 9 PM at the Owen Sound legion.
Huron Bruce tories can vote at the Lucknow Arena.
The winner will be announced on Saturday.
