West Grey is looking to team up with a Korean consortium in disposing garbage in the municipality.
They will be looking to set up incineration and steam generation units and are currently doing a feasibility study.
Mayor Kevin Eccles says the proposal would see the units handle about 50 tons of garbage a day.
He says that is the minimum scale for such a project and they are looking at partnering with other municipalities in this venture.
Eccles says the average amount of garbage from Grey County municipalities is 30 tons a day.
He says there is also commercial garbage that is currently being taken to other landfills that could end up at their processing plant.
Eccles says they were also approached by another company to join them in setting up a waste processing plant in Dundalk Township of Southgate.
He says their proposal would turn residential and industrial organic waste into methane gas.
He says West Grey is not sold on that concept and will not be pursing that initiative.
