A Listowel couple has been convicted of excessive production at their gravel pit in Brockton.
The Ministry of Natural resources say Harry and Jeanette Donnegan extracted almost 140-thousand tonnes more than allowed from the pit in 2007.
Annual limits are meant to reduce the impacts of pit or quarry operations, such as heavy truck traffic to neighbouring residents and additional wear on municipal roads.
The Donnegans operate a gravel pit with an annual extraction limit of 65-thousand tonnes.
Harry Donnegan has been fined 10-thousand dollars while Jeanette Donnegan received a suspended sentence.
