The 8th annual Harbour Nights Concert Series kicks off this weekend in Owen Sound.
Event Facilitator Doug Cleverly says this year’s lineup is the best they’ve ever had.
He says they’ve focused on bringing in a high level of original songwriters and performers from Grey Bruce.
Cleverly says with the series now in its 8th year, it’s really grown in reputation among both the musicians and audience.
The Harbour Nights Concert Series is also now part of the city’s new Celebrate Summer initiative.
Cleverly says they’re trying to make sure there is a local event going on every weekend this summer.
He says they want to utilize the beautiful downtown harbour setting to its best potential.
He also says having free events this year is especially important for families.
The Harbour Nights Concert Series opens with a performance by the Sapsuckers this Sunday night.
They are a blues-based band out of Saugeen First Nation and Southampton.
Cleverly says this first performance is also part of the larger National Aboriginal Day Celebrations taking place on the west side of the harbour from 2:00 to 8:30 PM.
The Concert Series then continues every Sunday night at 7 o’clock until August 9th, behind the Visitor Centre on 1st Avenue West.
All the performances are free and will go rain or shine, so you’re advised to dress appropriately and bring a lawn chair.
