One Relay for Life event is in the books — 6 more to go in Grey Bruce.
The first event of the summer for the Canadian Cancer Society wrapped up at the Cape Croker Indian Park Saturday morning.
Officials report they raised about 46 thousand dollars.
Now the next Relay will be held Friday at Saugeen District Secondary School.
It’s the first ever Relay for Life event in Saugeen Shores and so far, about 60 teams have signed up for the fundraiser.
One of the committee members, Rona Cobean, says they are “blown out of the water,” by the response.
Over 41 thousand dollars has already been raised through pledges and over 100 luminaries have been purchased.
Cobean says 50 people have registered for the survivors lap that takes place at the event, and she is hoping more sign up.
Cobean says they have a wonderful Relay for Life Committee in Saugeen Shores and everything seems to be “rolling into place.”
