People will run for the arts in Owen Sound this weekend.
The annual RUN for the TOM begins at 9:30 AM today at Harrison Park.
The fundraiser for the Tom Thomson Art Gallery includes a timed 10 kilometre run and 5 kilometre walk.
Events Co-ordinator Kris Rosar says the money raised will go to support their children’s education programs.
Rosar says the money raised is important because they don’t charge for many of their children’s programs.
The Tom Thomson Art Gallery not only hosts school tours, but Rosar notes they have art classes for kids and they send art kits to local schools.
Rosar feels the Gallery is a great resource to expose children to visual history and culture and broadens their experience.
She hopes they are able to at least match the four thousand dollars raised during last year’s Run.
There will be prizes for the Top 3 male and female racers and the Top 3 fundraisers.
