Collingwood’s ethanol plant faces a hefty fine.
The company — which now calls itself Amaizeingly Green — pleaded guilty Friday to charges from the Ministry of Environment for violating the Environmental Protection Act and was fined 300 thousand dollars.
The charges relate to the odour and noise issues that have plagued residents in Collingwood’s east end for the last two years.
The company also pleaded guilty to a charge of operating equipment without necessary MOE approvals and was fined 25 thousand dollars.
Amaizelingly Green also agreed to a court imposed sentence of five thousand dollars for each of three charges for violating Collingwood’s sewer use bylaw.
Officials still plan to shut down the plant on June 30th to install equipment to reduce the odour and noise.
