Owen Sound City Council is holding a public information meeting for residents.
The meeting is to help the community adjust to their new garbage pick up schedule.
City Council will be implementing a bi-weekly garbage pick-up schedule at the beginning of July.
A public information session will be held tonight at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre at 7 PM.
Every other week residents can put out a maximum of four garbage containers – with the exception of the downtown core.
Mayor Ruth Lovell-Stanners says the downtown will continue with the regular weekly pick up schedule.
Lovell-Stanners says the change was made in response to the decrease in garbage pick up over the last five years.
Councillor Bill Twaddle says citizens need to be responsible for the waste they create.
Twaddle says many residents do have concerns about rodents and the smell of garbage – but those things are very manageable.
The new bi-weekly schedule begins on July 6th.
