Bruce County is hoping some federal funding will come their way for 3 of their projects.
The County submitted 3 applications for the Community Adjustment Fund grant — a 2-year 1 billion dollar stimulus program.
The deadline for submissions for all applications was yesterday.
Director of Planning Chris LaForest says they only learned about the deadline this past week and his staff had to quickly fill out the applications.
He says they went to Bruce County’s Corporate Services Committee on Thursday and got approval to submit those applications.
LaForest says the first application was for the 75-thousand-dollar 9-1-1 signage project.
He says the 1.9-million-dollar project involves changing the road signs in the County to reflect the names of the amalgamated municipalities.
He says this is for emergency services as dispatchers have the new municipal names in their database where the signs have the names of the old municipalities.
LaForest says the second application was for the wayfinding signage project..
He says the project is underway in Saugeen Shores and Kincardine and the application is to have those signs installed on local and County roads in the two municipalities.
The third application is for County Forest Improvements for improvements to trail markings and maintain the existing network.
LaForest says these are 3 good projects that will benefit the County.
If the County was to receive CAF funding for the projects they must be completed by the end of March, 2010.
