The Saugeen Municipal Airport in Hanover is celebrating 100 years of flight with a loud roar.
As part of the celebration — a Mitchell B-25 bomber from the Canadian War Plane Heritage Museum in Hamilton will arrive at the Saugeen Municipal Airport at 6 PM tonight.
The World War II aircraft will be arriving with two local veterans — including 92 year old Glen Rawson of Hanover.
He won the Distinguished Flying Cross and who also was one of the original instructors on the air craft in the 1940’s.
The other veteran is Lorne Moore of Palmerston who was also a B-25 pilot.
Spokesperson Phil Englishman encourages the public to come out and be a part of this historic occasion.
He notes this B-25 bomber is only 1 of 2 left that can still fly.
Admission is free, and fly enthusiasts can even purchase a ride on the old bomber.
The local air cadets will also be on hand to mark the occasion and will be providing demonstrations of their drill and sport for spectator.
The B-25 bomber will remain on the tarmac for public viewing tomorrow .
The Hanover antique car club will also be there showcasing their vehicles.
