Visitors to three popular provincial parks along the Lake Huron coast will notice some improvements this year when they head out camping.
Superintendent Chris Tomsett says at MacGregor Point Provincial Park, summer students will be working on upgrading trails, including getting ready to connect the park trail system with the Saugeen Rail Trail and municipal trail network.
He says they started work last year and good progress was made.
The Town of Saugeen Shores is also working on the connection from its end too.
Development continues at Inverhuron Provincial Park, which re-opened to camping in 2005 after being closed for nearly 30 years.
Tomsett says 37 new campsites are open, along with a new comfort station, and privies, and an additional 85 campsites could be installed in the future.
He says the new washroom facilities will add to what is already there, but the next projects at Inverhuron will be improving the boat launch and building a park amphitheatre.
Tomsett says washroom upgrades have also been made at Sauble Falls Provincial Park, which he says is an extremely popular camping destination because it’s close to Sauble Beach.
He says Sauble falls has occupancy levels around 90 percent in July in August, making it one of the most popular provincial park campgrounds in Ontario.
