Grey, Bruce and Huron Counties are getting more money from the province.
The McGuinty Liberals have announced funding for the Rent Bank program.
It helps low income families avoid eviction if they have missed a rent payment.
Grey County will receive 33 and a half thousand dollars this year ($33,532).
Close to 20 thousand dollars has been earmarked for the rent bank in Bruce County ($19,489).
Huron County will also receive over 19 thousand dollars ($19,231).
Under the 5 million dollar program — if a tenant’s application for help is approved — the outstanding rent is paid directly to the landlord.
Huron Bruce Liberal MPP Carol Mitchell says the new funding will ensure low income tenants avoid eviction and stay out of shelters.
