Today was supposed to be the day the town of Collingwood went to court attempting to get the ethanol plant declared a public nuisance.
But the court date has been pushed back — not only because the plant is closing to try to fix its noise and odour issues, but also because Collingwood Ethanol has changed its name.
The company is now calling itself Amazingly Green, which means some of the legal paperwork must be changed.
Also adding to the delay — the company has changed its legal team.
Earlier this spring, officials with the ethanol plant offered to settle its ongoing dispute with the town.
Councillors have had a look at the offer.
However, Collingwood Mayor Chris Carrier says he can’t comment on the offer until all the negotiations are complete with the newly-renamed company.
The ethanol plant will begin its shut-down on Monday, planning to re-open in the fall with equipment in place to reduce the noise and smell that has plagued Collingwood’s east end for two years now.
