Huron Bruce Conservative MP Ben Lobb admits the government is going over a rough bump in connection with the controversial issues surrounding the federal Natural Resources Minister Lisa Rait.
Raitt has already been hauled up on the opposition carpet after her communications officer left secret documents at an Ottawa TV station.
The latest gaff is a tape recording that ended up in the hands of a Halifax newspaper where Raitt is said to call the shortage of isotopes in the treatment of cancer, as a “sexy issue.”
On Soundingboard on 98 the Beach — MP Ben Lobb said he doesn’t know Raitt all that well and hasn’t formed an opinion as to whether or not she should be fired or asked to resign.
Lobb says the two issues plaguing the minister came one after another but he doesn’t see any type of conspiracy by the communications officer Jasmine MacDonnell.
He says she was well paid in her position which she resigned and she shouldn’t have an axe to grind.
Lobb says the whole thing is an unfortunate circumstance and it’s tough to see someone’s name and reputation going through the national media like it is.
Lobb adds she seems to be a nice person.
