15 communities in the riding of Bruce Grey Owen Sound have received over 40 million dollars in infrastructure funding.
The federal and provincial governments made the announcements today in Owen Sound — the community that will receive the biggest share.
Owen Sound is getting 10.8 million dollars from each level of government to build a new multi use recreational facility.
Mayor Ruth Lovell Stanners says it’s not only a great day for the City but also for Grey Bruce as a whole and the people who will use this facility.
She says they plan to start construction right away and the target date for completion is March 31st, 2011.
1.6 million dollars has also been earmarked for the biodigestor project — a project that Georgian Bluffs and Chatsworth have been working on for years.
Chatsworth also received a million dollars for road projects and to replace the roof a the Williamsford Community Centre.
Georgian Bluffs will also receive have a million dollars for local road projects.
Grey Highlands is getting over a million dollars to build a new library in Flesherton and upgrade the Community Hall.
Arran Elderslie will receive 1.5 million dollars for road and water projects.
Meaford is getting 1.5 million dollars for water and road projects and to replace the Community Centre roof.
Hanover will receive almost 5 million dollars for the extension of sewers and the expansion of the water treatment plant.
South Bruce Peninsula will receive 2 million dollars for road work and to upgrade Bluewater Park.
Northern Bruce Peninsula will get almost 300 thousand dollars for work in Ferndale.
Southgate will get almost a million dollars to renovate Dundalk Memorial Park and the Library and OPP office.
West Grey will receive 300 thousand dollars to replace roofs on 3 municipal buildings.
Bruce County will receive another 1.4 million dollars for road work and Grey County will receive a million dollars for a new maintenance depot in Durham.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller says this is a great day not only for Owen Sound — but also for the entire region.
He says it will create jobs and stimulate the economy.
