A plan to try to bring more affordable housing to Collingwood is temporarily on hold.
The Affordable Housing Task Force had asked council for a 30 thousand dollar budget which would come from reserves.
But council voted unanimously to put the request on hold until the committee can provide a business plan on what exactly the money is needed for.
The information is expected to come back to council for its June 29th meeting.
Task Force Chair Dawn Myers says she’s not too surprised by the decision.
Myers says the request for a business plan is justified and it will be supplied by the deadline.
She tells us 30 thousand dollars is a reasonable request because they want to bring in experts as guest speakers for public education sessions for people interested in creating affordable housing options.
Myers says they also want to send people to important conferences.
Council will also be asked again to consider putting 50 thousand dollars in the 2010 budget for the Affordable Housing Task Force.
Myers says they haven’t had a budget in seven years so she thinks it’s fair to ask now.
