There will be no change to the West Grey – Hanover municipal boundary.
West Grey is not interested in turning over parts of the municipality to Hanover..
A proposal to have Hanover acquire surrounding land in West Grey was discussed at last weeks West Grey Committee of the Whole meeting.
Council authorized staff yesterday to inform Hanover that they are no longer interested in pursuing that idea.
Mayor Kevin Eccles says West Grey is instead willing to enter into an agreement to purchase some water and sewer servicing from Hanover.
He says the agreement would extend Hanovers water and sewer system into properties in West Grey that have no service.
Eccles says they were approached by Hanover a number of times in acquiring land from West Grey.
He says Hanover has an abundance of land on the northern portion of the Town that has not been used for development.
Eccles says there was an agreement that saw over 900 acres of land in the former Bentinck Township merge into Hanover prior to amalgamation in 1999.
He says it was to look after Hanovers needs for growth over a 25-year period.
He says it has been 10 years since the acquisition was made and is not sure why the Municipality is being approached by Hanover again.
