Another award for the Southport Club of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) in Southampton.
It was awarded the Provincial Advocacy Award at the Ontario Council Annual General Meeting in Belleville last week.
It recognized the Club’s consultative work in 2008 with Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb and MPP Carol Mitchell.
The local policy makers were briefed about critical issues such as the Arbitration Act, Ontario Water Resources Act and the Species at Risk Bill.
The CFUW is a voluntary, non-profit, self-funded bilingual organization of more than 10,000 women university graduates across Canada.
CFUW Southport was founded in 1990 and is a 60-member organization located in Saugeen Shores.
