The annual “Bike/Walk to work Challenge” is on in Grey Bruce.
It is into it’s 6th year and over 300 businesses are taking part in the Challenge this year.
Originally, Marilyn Lemon says the Grey Bruce health unit limited participation to Owen Sound businesses, but that has been expanded in the last few years to anywhere in the two counties.
Lemon says 15 minutes a day biking or walking to work leads to stronger muscles and bones, as well as greater flexibility.
At the same time she says we burn less fossil fuel and help to improve air quality.
Lemon says there seem to be more big businesses involved, than smaller ones and many offer prizes.
The Health unit has information about how to organize a “Bike/Walk to work Challenge” event in your workplace.
