A big day for dog owners in Collingwood.
The new Pawpular Dog park had its official opening today.
And there were plenty of dogs and owners alike enjoying the new area.
Collingwood Councillor Mike Edwards says their vision for the park started a few years ago, and it’s great to finally see the park opening.
He says the donation of about 2 acres of land really helped, and Edwards says the real stumbling point was finding a piece of property that was a good enough size for the dogs to enjoy.
He says there may be some benches built in the future, and some extra play things put in for the dogs to enjoy too.
Edwards says they’d like to see a bit more parking, but they will have a constant supply of fresh water coming from the nearby water pump station.
He says dog parks are a great social place, and people enjoy them just as much as dogs do, and this is a great addition to the community.
The only thing a dog needs to come to the park is a dog tag, and Edwards says that’s just to ensure that all the dogs are up on the vaccinations.
