A lot of affordable housing units operated in Bruce County have been spruced up thanks to money from the province.
Bruce County Manager of Housing Services Susan Earle says they received just over 360 thousand dollars from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
The symbolic handing over of the cheque took place Friday with Huron Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell but the money was spent some time ago and the repairs done.
Earle says the money was used to pay for some capital repairs and the money was distributed to each of the four private non-profit housing groups and the housing corporation based on the number units each section has.
In Port Elgin, the Rotary non-profit homes on Ivings Drive received money to have new windows installed.
In Kincardine the group on Campbell Avenue some appliances were replaced.
At the Golden Dawn seniors residence and nursing home in Lion’s Head, some design work was done to install solar panels.
The Bruce County Housing Corporation used their share of the money to repair some drainage issues in Walkerton.
Earle says there are over 700 units of affordable housing in 14 different locations.
