Hard work has certainly paid off for 16 year old Megan Schlorff.
The Walkerton Sacred Heart High School student has just returned from the Canada Wide Science Fair with two gold medals, a 10 thousand dollar scholarship and three thousand dollars in cash.
Schlorff is no stranger to the Canada Wide Science Fair scene.
Over the last few years she has won 26 thousand dollars in scholarships and five gold medals.
Her latest project ‘Down the Drain, Only to Resurface Again’ discovered that many of the compounds found in personal care products such as antibacterial soap remains in the water even after it has been treated.
The Hanover teen says she really enjoys the challenge that her science fair projects give her.
Schlorff plans to pursue a post secondary education in the health sciences field.
Schlorff is not the only Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board student to return from the Canada Wide Science Fair in Winnipeg with medals.
Her sister Holy Family student Jenna Schlorff brought home a gold and silver and Owen Sound St. Mary’s student Laurissa Christie won a silver and bronze medal.
