A scary weekend for two canoeists on Georgian Bay near Jackson Cove.
A cottager and two of his friends rescued two Sarnia area men from the water Saturday afternoon.
Bruce Peninsula OPP say the two men — both in their 40’s — had been working on a cottage and went out onto the water in a borrowed canoe.
But the canoe overturned and the men clinging to the canoe started calling for help.
A nearby cottager — hearing the calls — put his own 14 foot boat in the water and with help from 2 friends — rescued the men.
Police say one man was so weak by the time rescuers arrived — that he needed to be pulled from the water.
Paramedics checked the two men — and they did not go to hospital.
To add insult to injury — OPP charged the Sarnia area men with being on the water without personal flotation devices.
