There was a whole lot of jumping going on in Thornbury today.
About 400 students from Beaver Valley Community took part in the Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
The event took place at the Beaver Valley Community Centre.
There were also celebrity jumpers today — including former NHLer Scott Thornton, singer Drew Wright and former Olympic downhill skier Todd Brooker.
Brooker says it was quite the site to see so many students get involved in the fundraiser.
But Brooker notes the kids also learn valuable lessons about heart disease and stroke and how important it is to stay physically active.
Over the last five years — the Beaver Valley Community School has raised 80 thousand dollars.
The Thornbury school is one of the highest fundraising schools in the Ontario West Region.
The goal this year is to raise 20 thousand dollars.
They will find out the final tally next week.
