There are some GM dealers in the region who will stay open.
General Motors has started sending notices to almost 40 per cent of dealers across Canada — letting them know to cease operations with GM as of October in 2010.
But there’s good news for some dealers.
Hal Wright Chev Olds on the Sunset Strip, Dennis Pierson in Kincardine, Hallman Motors in Hanover and Mike Jackson GM in Collingwood will stay open.
Ted Wright at Hal Wright Chev Olds admits they were nervous before receiving confirmation via email that they would stay open.
Wright says the Owen Sound area market is very good for car dealers and they have not been hit hard by the economic downturn.
Mike Jackson says it’s a good feeling to know their dealership is a part of GM Canada’s long term plan.
Jackson says it’s also business as usual for them, although they don’t know what is going to happen to the manufacturer.
